President Murmu attends Dussehra celebrations in Dwarka

President Droupadi Murmu attended Vijayadashami celebrations organised by the Dwarka Shri Ramlila Society. The event included the burning of effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhkaran.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also attended the Dwarka event. The society’s 15th edition of the celebrations was held from October 11 to October 20.

The organisers had announced a 221-foot-tall Ravana effigy as one of the main attractions.

Security arrangements made for PM Modi’s visit

Around 2,500 Delhi Police and central armed forces personnel were deployed around the Utsav Ground venue. Authorities also planned traffic restrictions and a multi-layered security cordon.

The event included the traditional Ravana Dahan ceremony. Another effigy at the venue was themed around counterfeit medicines.
