Abhijeet Dipke Gets Conditional Bail, Asked To Sign Rs 50,000 Bond
Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke was granted conditional bail by a Special Executive Magistrate court in New Delhi on Saturday.
The court directed Dipke to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000. He is expected to be released shortly. He must also maintain peace for one year under the conditions of the bond.
Why Was Abhijeet Dipke Taken Into Custody?
Delhi Police took Dipke into preventive custody on Friday. The action came before the CJP’s planned ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ protest march at Connaught Place.
Police booked Dipke under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
More than 20 police personnel visited Dipke’s residence before the march. They served him two notices linked to the planned demonstration and his bond conditions.
One notice stopped him from holding a demonstration, procession or rally near Connaught Place. Police cited concerns about a possible stampede and traffic disruptions.
What Did The Second Notice Say?
The second notice came from the Special Executive Magistrate. It referred to bond conditions imposed on Dipke and CJP co-leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.
The notice said the three had earlier been taken into preventive custody and produced before a court. They were directed to maintain peace and good behaviour for one year.
On October 10, Dipke, Das and Ranka were taken into preventive custody before a planned protest. They were produced before a Special Executive Magistrate’s court at Delhi Cantt police station.
The three were later released after furnishing surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each. They also agreed to maintain peace and good behaviour for one year.
What Happened To The CJP March?
The CJP had planned its ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5 pm on Friday.
Delhi Police denied permission for the march. Police cited prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS.
The orders restrict mass gatherings in Connaught Place and nearby areas.
